Honda Park Now Changes Its Name to Tebet Park

Honda Park now is Tebet Park.

Honda Park, located in Tebet, South Jakarta, has been renamed Tebet Park. Gubernur DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan emphasized that the park, which is known to residents as Honda Park should be called Tebet Park instead. Because, the name of Honda Park does not reflect the management. While the name of Tebet Park reflects the reality that the park is managed by, funded by and built by the administration. Also, it is utilized by residents of the area.

Initially, the "Honda" name in the park in Tebet was referring to the automotive vehicle manufacturer PT Astra Honda Motor, because the company used to build the park through a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, that’s why it was called Honda Park.

PT Honda Prospect Motor (HPM) donates its CSR funds through Hijau Jakartaku 5 program. The company planted 1,180 trees at the 2.6 hectare park. The trees planted are part of Honda's sales at the 2009 International Motor Show (IIMS). Honda cars buyers at the event also automatically donated trees to Honda Park. The types of planted plants include Eucalyptus, Terminalia Mantaly, Weeping Willow, Bauhinia Purpurea, Mindi, Delonix Regia, and red shoots.

Now, Honda's name is no longer used after the cooperation between Honda and the administration ends. The maintenance of the park was fully carried out by the administration. That's the reason why it's now renamed Tebet Park.

Tebet Park itself will be revitalized this year to become a comfortable recreational park. Jogging track and damaged kid's playground will be repaired. Smart Traffic Park and Seed Park will be put together. The administration would also take care of water in the creek inside the park and the waste collection point on one side of the park.So that those who visit this place feel comfortable.

The arrangement of Taman Tebet was intended as an initial pilot program. Later it will be followed by park arrangement throughout Jakarta. This structuring program is expected to make parks in Jakarta not only eye-pleased, but also provide comfort for residents to act and interact.
