Laut Kita Describes Indonesian Sea Conditions

Laut Kita, an exhibition to support the preservation of Indonesia's nature.

Sejauh Mata Memandang (SMM) re-launches the latest collection that contains deep meaning. Last April, precisely at the commemoration of Earth Day, the fashion label owned by Chitra Subyakto released the 2019 dry season collection. The collection titled Laut Kita was inspired by the conditions of Indonesia's marine environment.

Laut Kita collection series symbolizes prayer and real action as a form of gratitude to the earth. The collection showcasing many seafloor floral motifs and ripples at the edges of the ocean in natural colors, such as indigo, pink pastel, red, and white. Ideal to be worn on any occasions, such as holidays to other semiformal events.

Aside from fashion, Sejauh Mata Memandang also held an installation exhibition describing Indonesian sea conditions. The exhibition collaborated with Gerakan Indonesia Diet Kantong Plastik, Plaza Indonesia, and several Indonesian artists, such as Felix Tjahyadi, Jay Subyakto, Davy Linggar, Jez O'Hare, Dian Sastrowardoyo, Nicholas Saputra, Hamish Daud and Tulus.

Chitra admitted that the Laut Kita collection and exhibition departed from the problem of plastic waste which empties into the sea and cannot decompose for tens or even hundreds of years. The exhibition, which runs from April 22 to June 16, 2019, is located at Plaza Indonesia Level 2 North and is open to public.
