Do you know that Jakarta has a Modern Fish Market? If you don't know yet, this fish market is located at Jalan Muara Baru Raya in Penjaringan, North Jakarta. Muara Baru Modern Fish Market has been operational since it was inaugurated by President Joko Widodo in March 2019.

If you want to visit the fish market it is recommended to use mountain sandals or rubber sandals, because the market floor condition is slightly muddy due to melting ice from fish storage boxes. As the fish market is, here you’ll find many sellers who sell fish, shrimp, calamari, crabs, to sea shells. It is perfect for seafood fans who want to find seafood to be cooked on your own.

PIM Muara Baru consists of two floors. The ground floor is used for traders selling seafood, while the second floor is a food court. Interestingly, at PIM Muara Baru food court, you can ask traders to burn the seafood you’ve bought.

This market is always crowded. Apart from this place sells complete seafood kind, the price is also quite affordable. Just imagine, a kilogram of fresh and big broken skin fish is only priced at Rp. 20,000. While prices for shrimp and calamari are diverse. One kilogram of shrimp is priced starting at Rp. 60,000, while calamari is priced at Rp. 80,000 per kilo.

Up to the second floor, you’ll find a row of stalls that offer services to burn the seafood you’ve bought. In this area also provided tables and chairs for visitors who want to eat in the foodcourt. Service price for burning any seafood kind is all priced at Rp. 25,000, not including rice and others. But most visitors actually prefer to eat seafood without rice, because it is more delicious.
