Trashbag Community Teach Climbers to Keep the Mountain Clean

Trashbag Community as a nature lover community was born bring hopes to keep the mountain clean.

The true nature lover is not only climbing mountain and taking pictures when you get the summit. Many climbers still don’t understand that there is one more important thing to do when they are on a mountain, keep the mountain clean.

Those loving climbing mountain might know lots of garbage scattered on the mountain or you might have seen it through your social media timeline. Feared, the more garbage on mountain will harm its vegetation and animals. Therefore, Trashbag Community as a nature lover community was born bring hopes to solve this problem.

Formed on 11 November 2011 at Taman Nasional Gunung Gede Pangrango, The community with “Gunung Bukan Tempat Sampah” slogan, work together cleaning mountains in Indonesia. Headquartered at Kalibata Timur in South Jakarta, they came as the answer of climbing activities which is getting hype, but not accompanied with their awareness to bring back their garbages.

Started with 2 people who felt sad see climbers don’t care about nature cleanliness, then it grows became 12 people and now has thousand members on Facebook. Dominated by young people spread in several regions in Indonesia and centered in Jakarta. Trashbag Community started their action by climbing and bringing garbages on the mountain down. On their Facebook account, they uploading activities and inviting anyone to join the community.

Besides climbing mountain and bringing garbages down, Trashbag Community also educating other climbers as well as students about how important it is to keep the mountain clean. They also taking pictures and sharing photos of garbage situation on the mountain, so many people out there know how the real situation is.
