Prior to Chinese New Year, Barongsai (lion dance) performances can easily be found in Jakarta. But if you want to see a unique version of Barongsai, you can consider visiting Seaworld at Ancol Dreamland in North Jakarta, on next February, 16-18.
Carrying “New Hope and Spirit in the Year of The Dog” theme, the Barongsai dancers is award-winning Kong Ha Hong Lion Dance Troupe. They also will show at Pantai Lagoon Ancol, on Saturday, Februari 17.
Slated to take place at at the main aquarium, Seaworld will host a barongsai show where dancers will dive alongside thousands of fish. Battle of Yin Yang is the name of the show.
Imlek Celebration also can be enjoyed at Dunia Fantasi featuring Barongsai show from best Barongsai dancers. Barongsai performances can also be seen at other sites in Ancol, such as the Atlantis Water Adventure where dancers will be joined by dolphins.
The peak of Ancol's Chinese New Year celebrations will take place at Floating Stage Lagoon Beach featuring barongsai, the release of 300 lanterns, and special performance from Utopia Band. On February, 18, there is also Special Zumba guided by famous TV host, Feni Rose, and will start from 07.00 a.m.
