Jakarta Art Moments will Pamper Art Lovers with 50 Galleries

Art Moments Jakarta 2020 will present 50 galleries from both Indonesian and foreign artists.

Art Moments Jakarta (AMJ) will return for the second time at Sheraton Grand Jakarta Gandaria City Hotel in South Jakarta. This event will take place on April 17 to 19, 2020. This year, AMJ will present 50 galleries from both Indonesian and foreign artists.

Art Moments Jakarta 2020 takes the theme of Yesterday Since Tomorrow. "This art exhibition is a combination of various groups, all mingling in one dynamic place. Yesterday Since Tomorrow is Today, Yesterday Since Tomorrow is Us," Leo said in AMJ 2020 announcement, Tuesday (11/02/2020) in Meeting Room 1, Sheraton Grand Jakarta Gandaria City Hotel.

Just like the previous year, AMJ 2020 will also present interesting artworks and programs that reach all groups. Of the 50 galleries that participated, one of them is Whitestone Gallery in Tokyo, Hong Kong and Taipei. The works of Japanese artists such as Yayoi Kusama, Yoshitomo Nara, and Gutai group, will also enliven the exhibition.

This time AMJ will also feature Art Agenda, S.E.A from Singapore. Visitors can consult and ask questions about Modern Asian and post-war art in the 1930s to 1980s directly to the experts.

Another gallery that comes from abroad is Aureo Gallery from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This year they will feature their main artist, Kim II Tae from Korea, an artist who pioneered the art of oil painting technique on a 24-carat gold canvas.

Meanwhile, one of the galleries from Indonesia is from Bandung, Lawangwangi Art Gallery will also participate. They will present abstract works from Indonesian art mogul, Gregorius Sidharta. The artworks will be read and juxtaposed with young artists generations in contemporary art such as Mujahidin Nurahman, Gabriel Aries Setiadi, Erwin Windu Pranata, and Rendi Raka Pramoedya.

This time, ArtSociates and Lawangwangi will focus on the introduction and education of " Mazhab Bandung" works to be exhibited. " Mazhab Bandung is a periodic phenomenon which is often considered to have a distinctive abstract style. It is based on the thought of modernism that has developed into the social context of the community and the Bandung art environment since the 1950s," said Rizki A Zaelani, one of the curators of Lawangwangi Art Gallery.

According to Rizki, the Bandung School is actually a term used in discussions among Bandung artists. Lawangwangi will introduce to visitors that young artists are still working on abstract art even in modern times.

Indonesian artist who is in the spotlight, Mochtar Sarman, is also scheduled to attend. Sarman is famous for his work having a concept that combines futuristic and traditional art. One of his newest works, "Victory", in the form of paintings by legendary great leaders such as Napoleon Bonaparte, Lee Kwan Yu, Sultan Mahmed, Musashi, and Alexander The Great will also be introduced at this art exhibition.

AMJ 2020 appoints Khai Hori as Artistic Director. Khai, who is a famous curator from Singapore, said that this year's AMJ will present interesting programs for visitors such as Intimate Moments, Converse Moments, Prized Moments, and Maker Moments.

"The programs we have designed are not only about art. But also about issues in the world today such as levels of welfare, different sexes, cultural capital, climate change and environmental responsibility that we present in attractive packaging," saod Khai.

Art Moments Jakarta 2020 will also collaborate with Jakarta Sneakers Day. This is done to attract the interest of millennial generation which is a new market share in Indonesia. The price of AMJ 2020 ticket is priced at Rp 50,000 per person. The Jakarta Sneakers Day itself will be held first, on March 26 to 29, 2020.
