District 1 Meikarta Offered a Safe Way to Enjoy Movie due to New Normal

New safe way to enjoy movies by avoiding crowds.

This was certainly not the very first drive-in cinema in Indonesia. Enjoying movies behind your wheels which popular with term drive-in cinema was built for the very first time in the history in Ancol. Quoting historia, the biggest drive-in cinema I Southeast Asia was built by (late) Ciputra, successful businessman while tried to make Ancol complete recreation spot for everyone.

Included 340 workers, the first drive-in cinema in Jakarta with 5 hectares or equal to 800 cars and a giant screen which can be seen from 200 meters was opened to public on July 11, 1970. Unfortunately, this cinema ended in early 1990s.

Hence, as government effort to improve economy performance due to COVID-19 including recreation, District 1 Meikarta Lippo Cikarang turned their parking lot to drive-thru-dine-in. Meikarta used the same concept with previous drive-in where people can enjoy movies behind their wheels while eat food from tenants in the parking area without being charged (parking fee).

The presence of this drive-in cinema is certainly applied standard health protocols including car capacity checking, ensuring visitors wearing masks, provide hand sanitizers and body temperature checking. However, visitors are only allowed to enjoy the drive-thru-dine-in for 1.5 hours and also keep safe distance from other cars.
